(Storyline)

Storyline We are hoping to create and action/thriller film that could possibly include a robbery or either a kidnapping. The kidnapping will take place because of a multi-millionaire who is holding a grudge over someone who has done him wrong in the past. The multi-millionaire phones up a couple of hitmen while he is abroad on holiday in Barcelona so he is far away and will not get caught up in the trouble, he then asks them if they can do him a favour by locating the man who is wanted and abducting him from broad daylight. He will then be taken to secret location tied up to a chair with gun pointing towards his head. Once this is done the rich businessman will be given the heads up where he will then phone one of the family members of the person who has been abducted. The businessman will then ask something along the lines of ‘I need £20 000 by midnight otherwise you can say goodbye to your little friend.’ At the start of the trailer there will be some opening establishing shot

(Storyboard)

Image
Storyboard This is our ruff storyboard which has our initial ideas on it. This is our official storyboard for our trailer Race Against Time, we created this storyboard using paint which is a program where you can draw or paint images on to a white background. When we completed each of the scenes we opened up Adobe Premiere Elements 15 and added each of the scenes to the time line to make it look like a cinematic storyboard.

(Practice Institutions)

Image
Practice Institutions This is one of our institutions which we used in our trailer, this institution was copied from last years production. We decided to copy it across to this year because we thought that it was very effective and because it stands out, due to the fact that the animation looks really good and well made. As this is a trailer we are going to need to speed this up because as our trailer is based on an action thriller film it is fast paced which conforms to the conventions of action thriller films.

(Script)

Script This is our script which we will be following in our trailer... SCRIPT- RACE AGAINST TIME · GHALIB: I need to get a job done, how much would it cost. Ok listen Ive got £50 grand if you do it by this time next week understand? Ok I will be in contact with you in the next couple of days. Luke: You pay me 40 grand and I’ll get it done as soon as possible Yes I understand Okay that’s fine ill speak to you soon Callum D: (walking down the road casually minding his own business) (Callum and callum are about to get into their car.) (Both thugs jump out of a car as it pulls up alongside of callum and throw a couple of punches in attempt to get callum in the car.) Callum D: (SCREAMING) who you are! Get off me! (Kidnappers throw callum in the boot, slam boot and drive anyway.) Ghalib: (sitting in a dark room picks up his phone and rings callum) Callum I have your brother but there is no need to worry transfer me £1 million and he will be safe. Ghalib: (phone rings

(Mood Board)

Image
Mood Board This is a mood board on thriller that we created. We created this using power point by copying and pasting images from the internet that we believed were linked to an action thriller film and put them on to the page with a black background so the images stand out. We than added some words that we thought were related to thriller and added them onto the page, for example chase scenes are very important and widely used in action thriller films because it creates tension and engages the audience into the film.

(Questionnaire)

Image
Questionnaire We decided to do a questionnaire because we wanted to get some ideas on what we should do in our film and what we could change to make it better. From the results we found out that most of our audience was male between the ages of 15 and 19, from this we now know that are film is going to be a 15 because we want lots of people to watch it and we then know we cant add any graphic images or scenes, as well as some. From the results we got we decided to make them into graphs so we could clearly present our work and information for people to see. We did this using power point which made it simple to do because it already had a part on it which helped to create a graph, this meant that we only needed to put the results into the graph. These results will help us to get some ideas of what the audience want our film to be and what we should include in it.

(Film Stereotypes)

Film Stereotypes There are many different stereotypes in films, for example by having different stereotypes about gender, sex, race, age and religion. In our film we are going to include different types of characters cultures, for example white British actors and western/middle eastern Asian actors.  Some White British stereotypes are.... Affluent Educated Socially awkward Restrained Moral Rational Arrogant Represses This means that in our trailer we will need to include some of these stereotypes to make the trailer more realistic and stick to the stereotypes set by White British. This will help us to appeal to the audience because they would want to recognise these stereotypes. Some Western/Middle Eastern Asian stereotypes are.... Terrorists Devout Educated Oppressed females Religious fanatics Sophisticated and cultures Villains Cruel/brutal This means that in our trailer we will need to include some of these stereotypes to make the trailer more re

(Shot Lists)

Image
Shot Lists Aerial shot: An aerial shot is a shot taken from an airborne device which is filming what ever is below it.  Canted angle shot: A canted angle shot is a type of shot where the camera is set at an angle so that the shot is composed with vertical lines at an angle to the side of the frame. This makes the shot look like it is moving around with the characters in the film. Close up: A close up shot typically contains an image of the face and shoulders of and subject, this shot also  tightly frames a person or object onto the screen. Establishing shot: An establishing shot is usually the first shot of a film because it is the shot which establishes the location of the film. High angle: A high angle shot is usually used to make the characters in the film look vulnerable and powerless.   Long shot: A long shot is a shot which is taken from a considerable distance, to make things in the background appear out

(Online Tutorials)

Image
Online Tutorials We decided to look at this video because we wanted to have some ideas on how we could include make up in our trailer which we are creating. This clip is a make up tutorial video from YouTube on how to make body parts looked bruised, we decided to use this video to get some ideas on how we could make our selves look like we've been hit or punched on the face. This is another make up tutorial video from YouTube, we also decided to look at this video because it showed us how to make our self look bruised and like we've been in a fight. This will be useful for our trailer because we want to make it look as realistic as possible so it stands out for the audience and makes our action look more effective.

(Initial Ideas)

Image
Initial Ideas This is a mind map of the initial ideas that we had about the film which we were going to create. The mind map included some initial ideas on what costumes we should use, the story line, location and what extra information which we could add in the film. This will help us set up our first ideas for our film which we could then develop in the future if necessary to make the story line more engaging for the audience.

(Certificate Research)

Image
Certificate Research  We planned to make our film the age rating of a 15 because we wanted it to appeal to an audience of roughly our age so we could add parts in which we would like to include in our film. We also wanted to make the film a 15 because we thought that it wasn't going to be suitable for younger audiences because we wanted to add violent scenes and weapons into the film, as we wanted it to be intense and dramatic as possible. For a film to be given an age rating of 15 the film is allowed to include different areas, for example... Discrimination- Must not endorse discriminatory language or behaviour, although there may be racist, homophobic or other discriminatory themes and language Drugs- Highly dangerous substances is unlikely to be acceptable Imitable behaviour- Dangerous behaviour should not dwell on detail which could be copied Language- There may be strong language, very strong language may be permitted depending on the manner in which it is used

(Institution Research)

Image
Institution Research  This image above features lots of different kinds of film institutions which helps the film production and the digital media distribution. Looking at theses different examples of film institution shows me that best ways on how I could layout my institution because each one shown has different kinds of layouts which means I have a wide range of options to go with. These examples also give me an idea of what font i could use to make it look more appealing so it stands out to the audience more. These different film institutions will help me have an idea for what our groups design could be for our specially designed film institutions because we want to make it creative and standout from existing ones which are already made.

(Titles in our Trailer)

Image
Titles in our Trailer Here are some examples of the titles in our film, we made these titles using a website called Coolvetica Font. We decided to use two different fonts, one to make our titles to look professional and the other one to make our titles look eerie and mysterious as our film is action thriller based. The eerie font was called Vtks Madalena which we made black and white, this font was effective to use because it has splatters on it which looks like something has damaged or covered it. The other font that we used was called Libertatus which we also made black and white, this font was effective to use because it looks professional and appealing to look at.  Vtks Madalena  Libertatus

(Actors, Props, Photos and Interviews)

Image
Actors, Props, Photos and Interviews  In our film we are planning to have many different types of costumes, for example our film is going to include a rich business man who is going to be dressed in reasonably smart clothes because we want the character to look as much like a business man as possible. We are also including two gangster type characters who are going to be dressed in dark clothes with parts of their face covered to keep their identity hidden. Lastly we are going to have two characters who are going to be dressed in standard every day clothes because we want them to seem like every day people who are living normal lives. The props which we are going to use in our trailer can be seen in the images below, we decided to use both a fake gun and rope because we wanted to have someone captured and tied up with rope, as well we decided to have someone held at gun point to make the film more intense for the people to watch. Interview Questions 1. What is your f

(Costume and Location Research)

Image
Costume and Location Research In our film we are planning to have many different types of costumes, for example we are planning to have a character who is a rich business man which means he is going to need to be smartly dressed with blacked out sum glasses to make him look powerful. We are also planning to have some gangsters in this film which means that they are going to need to wear some dark baggy clothes, like track suits with either hoodies or with their faces covered. The next character we have planned is the person who is going to be kidnapped, his costume will only need to be basic everyday clothes because we want him to look like any other person in the public. We have many locations planned for where we could film, for example some one in my group is going to Barcelona, Spain which means he could film some parts there which will give us an extra location where we could film making it more interesting to watch. We also planned an abduction s

(Soundtrack Research)

Image
Soundtrack Research Background Music- In our film trailer we will add in some background music within some certain  scenes. We wanted to add some background music into our trailer because it helps to build tension and create the atmosphere of the trailer. This would be effective for the audience because it will help make them more engaged into the trailer. The background music needs to be some what noticeable because it often provides a tone or an emotional attitude towards the story or the characters within the film. In addition background music foreshadows a change in mood, for example dissonant music may be used in film to indicate an approaching (but not yet visible) menace or disaster. This type of music is non diegetic music because the characters in the trailer would not be able to hear it playing. The clip above is from the film jaws, this film is one of the most famous films because of its well-known soundtrack that is used. The film manages to create a large amoun

(Genre Conventions)

Image
Genre Conventions This is a mind map of action which has the main conventions of an action films. Some examples are that many action films are set in Eastern European Countries because many action films include terrorists, also many action films contain explosions and fight scenes which then suggests that there will be lots of action going in in the films. This mind map would give me some crucial ideas on what we could add to make an action film good as well what I could add to improve an action film.  These thriller conventions will help our group decide what we could have in our film, for example we will need to add some kind of music which will have to be intense because as our film is a action thriller film there will need to be some music to make the scenes more intense. Another convention is that there needs to be a strong story line because it needs to engage the audience and bring them along with the story, if the film doesn't have a strong and engaging story lin

(Whiplash: Enigmas) (Drama)

Image
Whiplash Enigmas This film is called Whiplash which is a drama about a man who is trying to become an successful drummer by going to the best musician school in the country. He is being taught by a older man who is an very experienced musician who is trying to get the best out of the people who he is teaching, especially one person who is playing the drums. The man playing the drums has to over come some difficult circumstances to become the best drummer which can be seen in the trailer. The older man will do anything to get the best out of this students which can be seen when he physically abuses some of them. Enigmas are the questions which the audience are left asking after watching a piece of work, for example watching a film trailer. Enigmas are left after watching this trailer, this is because the trailer leaves lots of cliff hangers which means that the audience is going to come up with lots of different questions about the film. For example bellow are some possible que
