Film Stereotypes

There are many different stereotypes in films, for example by having different stereotypes about gender, sex, race, age and religion. In our film we are going to include different types of characters cultures, for example white British actors and western/middle eastern Asian actors. 

Some White British stereotypes are....
  • Affluent
  • Educated
  • Socially awkward
  • Restrained
  • Moral
  • Rational
  • Arrogant
  • Represses
This means that in our trailer we will need to include some of these stereotypes to make the trailer more realistic and stick to the stereotypes set by White British. This will help us to appeal to the audience because they would want to recognise these stereotypes.

Some Western/Middle Eastern Asian stereotypes are....

  • Terrorists
  • Devout
  • Educated
  • Oppressed females
  • Religious fanatics
  • Sophisticated and cultures
  • Villains
  • Cruel/brutal
This means that in our trailer we will need to include some of these stereotypes to make the trailer more realistic and stick to the stereotypes set by Western/Middle Eastern Asians. This will help us to appeal to the audience because they would want to recognise these stereotypes.

How have used media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? · Comment on your influences. In your planning where did you take some inspiration from and how did this become realised in your final productions. Include some snips and analyse in detail. We took inspiration from the film Taken which is a well know franchise which was first introduced 2008 which stared Liam Neeson and was directed by Pierre Morel, with the last of the three films being released in 2014. We took inspiration from this film because we had an idea from what our trailer was going to be about which included someone being kidnapped for what there brother has done as a kind of revenge attack. We realised in our final production that we took inspiration from the film Taken because our story line was based on a business man being held to ransom by kidnappers who took his brother because of a deal that went wrong with his past business partner.  In this image you can see

Avatar: Trailer Analysis Dramatic camera shots and angles The dramatic shots and angles in this trailer are very effective and well used because it helps to draw the audience into the film and to make them forget about every day life helping them become emerged in the film. An example of a camera shot used would be an extreme close up of the characters eyes at the start of the trailer, this camera shot is effective because it shows the audience parts of his facial expression and you are able to see into his eyes which look angry. Genre indicators This trailer is a good genre indicator because the trailer gives the audience a lot of information about the film.
