Evaluation 4

How have used media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

· Comment on your influences. In your planning where did you take some inspiration from and how did this become realised in your final productions. Include some snips and analyse in detail.

We took inspiration from the film Taken which is a well know franchise which was first introduced 2008 which stared Liam Neeson and was directed by Pierre Morel, with the last of the three films being released in 2014. We took inspiration from this film because we had an idea from what our trailer was going to be about which included someone being kidnapped for what there brother has done as a kind of revenge attack. We realised in our final production that we took inspiration from the film Taken because our story line was based on a business man being held to ransom by kidnappers who took his brother because of a deal that went wrong with his past business partner.

In this image you can see the part where we got inspiration from the film Taken where it shows the first point of the kidnappers making contact with the protagonist. You can tell that we took inspiration from this part because we are both holding mobile phones and are concentrating on what is being said to us to gain as much information from the call as possible. We are both situated in someones home which shows the audience that they have been disturbed in their daily routine a place that you should feel safe in. We also took inspiration from the clothes that have been used in this trailer, for example the dark clothes worn in the picture above which make the characters look the same.

In this image you can see the part where we got the inspiration from the film Taken, this shows the point where the victims are being kidnapped in the two different clips used. You can tell why we choose this part as it is one of the most important parts of the development of the story line to the film, we also took inspiration from the choice of clothes that are being used in this part of the trailer because they are dark and keep the identity of the kidnappers a secret. We developed an inspiration in this scene because we wanted to make sure that there was a difference between our trailer and the Taken one which is why we decided to stage the kidnap scene outside not inside an apartment. We thought that this would be a good idea as it is a high risk move to make as someone could interrupt them at any moment.

· Post-production: Explain a range of editing choices and outcomes, include some snips of premier elements screen shots and explain your choices and outcomes in detail.

editing choices included cutting, fade to blacks,

· Use of camera. How did you plan and storyboard the dynamic moments in your trailer. What moments are you particularly proud of in your trailer and were they planned or improvised on location?

Below are two examples of our rough story board which we created for our trailer, we planned our dynamic moments on our story board by drawing the main parts of the scenes into the box and added a short description of what is happening in each part. One part of our rough story board which is dynamic is the part where the brother is getting kidnapped by the thugs, we decided to split this scene into four different parts which starts with the brother walking back towards his car and when he goes round the back he is interrupted by the thugs who are attempting to kidnap him. This then leads to the thugs overwhelming the brother and forcing him into the boot of the car which he would then be tried up and taken way to the boss. The moment which I am particularly proud of in our trailer is the part at the end where the protagonist lifts the bag off his brothers head to see if he is still alive, but just before he gets to find out if he is ok he gets interrupted by a gun which is pointed at his head by the antagonist. This then leads to the part which I liked the best because the gun goes off at the point when the trailer flashes to black which would then leave the audience wondering what just happened and if the protagonist is ok. When filming our trailer we had to improvise in some parts, for example when we arrived at the location of the car park we had to set up the scene which took some time to do because we had to make sure that we didn't film members of the public because we didn't have their permission to do so. This meant that we had to film quickly which meant that some scenes were rushed and also improvised because we needed to film the scenes fast. We also had to improvise because of the weather which we filmed in the scene before because when we first filmed the part it was sunny which then it started to rain for the next couple of days which meant that we needed to wait for the weather to get better.
