Digital Technology Reflection

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

What software was used?
In our AS media coursework we used different types of software, for example we used YouTube, Blogger and Adobe Premier Element 10.

What equipment was used?
The equipment we used in the making of our media product was a tripod which we used to steady the camera when we were filming scenes and a camera which we used to record the clips which were going to be in our final product.

What were the technical pros and cons of the software and hardware?
A pro about using Adobe Premier Element 10 was that it was easy and simple to use because all of the tools we used to edit the clips were easy to find and edit with. Cons of this software was that sometimes the software didn't load properly which meant that the clips were unable to play which meant we needed to change computers every time this happened.

A pro about using the camera we were given was that it was easy to use and simple to film with, as well it was easy to transfer the footage from the camera onto the computer. Cons of this hardware was that the cameras quality was very poor because the camera was relatively old and not up to date with new functions, the camera was also really bad at picking up sound which meant you were unable to clearly hear our voices when speaking and this made the audio of our product bad.

In what ways was technology used to create the production?
We used software like Adobe Premier Element 10 to edit our clips together to make our final media product. For example we used the cutting tool to shorten clips which went over the limit of time we needed, also to connect scenes together so it makes it run more smoothly and not jumpy.

In what ways did the technology constrain or enable the production to be developed?
The camera enabled us to film our final media piece but constrained the quality that our media product was able to be in, as well it also constrained the audio quality because it was unable to pick up our voices.
